Controversy over gender equality often overshadows the love for the sport of golf. In our previous post, we looked in to the old adage ‘Gents Only, Ladies Forbidden’ and threw out some statistics.

Today we would like to draw your attention to a 96-year-old lady that has defied all stereotypes not only in gender and age, but also fitness and faculties.

Mrs Haddon has played golf since the tender age of 7 and has enjoyed spending her leisure time on the course for 89 years and counting. The average course is a four mile walk and it is estimated that a person weighing between 150 and 200 pounds could burn up to 2700 calories in an approximate time of 3.5 hours.

So, if the average golf course is an approximate 4-mile walk, we wanted to know what the longest distances from the tee in the UK. We have selected a few below for you to feast your eyes on:

Home to a four-star hotel, not only has the course been ranked in the top 10 4 par’s (UK) by Golf World Magazine, it also provides a picturesque scene for you to enjoy whilst fine dining.

  6. A whopping 7,879 yards from the back tees, Rockliffe Hall has meticulously manicured greens and challenges even the best professionals. Whether a novice or an expert, this place is certainly one to visit.
