How does top up cancellation cover work?

Top up cancellation cover provides protection against the cost of cancelling your holiday in excess of the cancellation cover provided by your travel insurance provider. Each travel insurance provider will have a standard cancellation benefit per person, usually either £2,000, £5,000 or £10,000.

Some luxury holidays exceed this amount. Our top up cancellation cover ensures that you are not out of pocket should the unexpected occur resulting in you needing to cancel your holiday. Some common reasons for cancellation are:

  • Illness or injury to you, your travelling companion or an immediate family member
  • Traffic incident prior to the trip causing you to miss your flight

Our policies are reliant on the terms and conditions set out by your primary travel insurance provider. Please make sure you are aware of the limitations.

Do I have to have a travel insurance policy in place before getting top up cancellation insurance?

Yes. Our policies are only eligible for customers who have an existing travel insurance in place with a cancellation cover of £1,000 or more.

Does it matter where I am travelling to?

No. As long as you are covered for the destination/s you are travelling to on your primary policy.

Whilst all of our policies provide cover abroad, please ensure that you read our policy wording carefully for geographical and policy restrictions.

What is the upper age limit?

We are only able to provide cover for customers up to the age of 79.

Do I need to declare a medical condition to you?

As long as all medical conditions are declared and accepted to your primary insurer, you do not need to declare them to us.

Am I able to top up the insurance I have in place with my bank?

Yes. As long as you have a valid primary insurance in place, you can obtain top up cancellation with us.
