Why do I need student insurance?

Some people assume that their possessions are covered through their home contents insurance but this is not necessarily the case. A student insurance policy has been designed specifically for the purpose of protecting your belongings whilst in student accommodation. In addition, a student insurance policy includes cover for liability and protection for items on loan from the university.

 

Am I covered if my possessions are stolen?

As long as you complied with the terms an conditions of your policy and the items were kept in a secure and locked environment. Please read the policy wording for full terms and conditions.

Can I insure my possessions under the student insurance policy if I didn’t buy them?

The owner of the possessions should be the one who takes out the insurance. Often the parents of the student take out student insurance for their children as they own the property. If you are unsure or have any further questions you can contact us here or call in on: 0203 829 3824.

Do I need to notify you if I buy new property?

Your insurance is based on the sum insured you select when purchasing the policy. If the accumulation of items exceeds the amount you originally entered, you will need to contact us so that we can make the necessary adjustments. An additional premium may apply.
